A favourite story which plays out for us repeatedly, and which has overwhelming meaning for us each and every time…

With every introductory class, along with all the eager new students, comes a “quiet one”. She arrives along with her parents. They are full of excitement; she, on the other hand, is filled with apprehension. This is the child who sits off to the side of the class, quietly watching.

The parents’ watchful eyes are focused on their child as they anxiously hope for signs of participation, but the sitting continues… peeking over knees, watching the class from a safe distance.

They leave, a little disappointed that their little one didn’t enjoy the class like the others, and hoping that she will eventually join in.

Later that evening, when a quiet peace settles over the house, the little girl thinks she is alone…nobody is watching. Now she dances. She dances on her own, full of grace and fluid in movement…just like her classmates danced...maybe even better!

Time goes on….she starts to show a little more curiosity at the next couple lessons. Still, it is at home, late at night when no one is watching, that she dances.

We assure her parents that their little one will come around, start participating when she is ready.

Then we hear, “at home she does it all – just like the other kids”, and that is when we know she will be up there dancing very soon…when she is ready!

A week or two later it happens…that sparkle in her eyes blossoms into fireworks she just can’t hold back any longer! She joins the class. She is full of joy and enthusiasm and her classmates are eager to welcome her and offer their encouragement.

End (or beginning) of story!

This is why we do what we do; to share the amazing art form of dance with students of all abilities and personalities - the confident ones, the timid ones, and every shade in between. We have danced holding them in our arms, cheering them on, and sharing parents’ joy as their shy child emerged at recital; a confident and graceful dancer.

We want you to know more about our passion and our kids…how we love dance and all of the wonderful physical and emotional benefits….memories, friendships and fun!

We invite you to stop by and see what we’re all about. We know – you will be hooked!
